Replacement blades are so expensive.
jasswolf on 11/12/2024 - 14:36
Been about $14/piece with 3 or 4 packs when you buy during sales. How often are you changing yours?
Merlict on 11/12/2024 - 14:43

I reckon every 4 months?
More expensive than disposables but way faster and less irritation.
SimAus007 on 11/12/2024 - 14:46

Yeah, I find the blades last me about 6 months and I shave daily, but yes, I agree on less irritation. I could never go back to a standard razor for this reason alone.

Anyone ever tried any of those aliexpress blades? Reviews suggest maybe not as sharp.

I bought the Aliexpress version of this fro ~$8. The replacement parts are around $3 per head. As far as I can tell it performs on par, i'm happy with it. It looks as if it is the same device just rebranded.

Yes, for me went straight to the bin.
OzHan on 11/12/2024 - 14:30
How does it stack up against other normal shavers like panasonic?

Its decent for a quick shave but not as close as the series 9 I got.
Morven on 12/12/2024 - 10:18
It's tiny and takes a long time to shave your face, unless you're just tidying up a small area.
Securityclearance on 11/12/2024 - 14:36
does anyone know how these fair against the braun series shavers - have a series 7 foil shaver from way back

You're getting a better shave, this is slightly more convenient and works as clippers and a body trimmer with attachments.
Only way you're beating an old series 7 is the new series 9 really.

ahh thanks for the heads up - have been seeing this phillips one everywhere recently - cheers
SimAus007 on 11/12/2024 - 14:48

It's far closer than any clippers, it's as close as you'll get without using a regular blade against the skin, which can, in my case, irritate the skin.
jasswolf on 11/12/2024 - 14:58
I'm not suggesting otherwise, I'm suggesting its key strength is its versatility, which includes a clipper function.
SimAus007 on 11/12/2024 - 15:09
@jasswolf: Ah yes, true :)
Borg on 11/12/2024 - 14:52

The way I see these (for face shaves) = They don't give as close a shave as an Foil Shaver which in turn don't shave as close as a blade.
What these are great for is If you have a few days growth, they get rid of it easily and then use your Brawn Shaver to get a tad closer if needed.shabaka on 11/12/2024 - 17:34
I went from Series 7 to this and got rid of Braun
this deals much quicker with longer stub
and very quickly gives you a "good enough" look and feel
if you feel like you want a closer shave, you can always finish with any good old foil shaver after this, and anything will do the job there
Morven on 12/12/2024 - 10:20
This is just a mini thing that does a close shave, not a full shaver. Takes a long time to shave your full face with this thing.
abbeyroad on 11/12/2024 - 14:46
These any good for beard trimming, or only useful for a clean shave?
SimAus007 on 11/12/2024 - 14:49

Both, it has a number 1, 3 and 5 attachment, if you don't want a close shave.

Been seeing these pop up a lot, but always on the fence. Coming from a clipper + regular shaving blades, ill give it a go and see if it can replace both.
Borg on 11/12/2024 - 14:56

They won't get anywhere near as close a shave as a regular blade. They are great for people with sensitive skin as the blade is away from skin hence would never be as close if that makes sense.
WowBargain on 11/12/2024 - 14:59
Yeah I expect it won't be as good for a close shave, but hopefully easier than trying to do an "acceptable job" with a pair of clippers.
noobshoes on 11/12/2024 - 21:13
For me it is extremely close to a blade shave but with no irritation. It's great. I just wish the blades were cheaper.

For those unaware, don't get sucked into buying replacement blades on eBay, they are not genuine blades and don't cut properly, hurt or last more than a few weeks, totally useless (I made this mistake twice!).
The only genuine blades are found on Amazon and Shaver Shop (only authorised sellers in Australia).
Once you know what to look for it's obvious those blades aren't genuine.io on 11/12/2024 - 15:21
True. Beats headphones and USB disk drives selling on eBay are fake as well.
SimAus007 on 11/12/2024 - 15:24

Plenty of Beats and USB flash drives on eBay are genuine (from reputable sellers), whereas none of the One Blades are :)

Really appreciate your reply.
Will have to keep an eye out for a deal on them in future.

can we consider this as travel shaver? small and portable enough? too bad not usb c but still usb
Cletus vandamme on 11/12/2024 - 15:25
Yes I used it when I went on holiday. There's plenty of videos online in regards to the shave it can do.
CyberMurning on 11/12/2024 - 15:31
i just feel the shape is a little too big for a portable travel shaver catergory
Cletus vandamme on 11/12/2024 - 18:33
It's not marketed as a travel shaver, but anything can be used as one of you're willing to carry it.

I bought this following recommendations on here and I hate it, takes multiple passes to get a clean shave. Maybe I shouldn't say clean since it struggles to do that, but an even shave

best for shaving ur body hair, would not recommend it for your nutsack or shaft it bites, best thing for balls is a good ole razer with shampoo as the glider, just rub on some shampoo and bob is ur uncle
wizko on 11/12/2024 - 16:15
Is this as good as a double edge safety razor for a clean shave?
I wet shave every day with my King C Gillette and feather blades, and as much as I love the whole ritual, it takes too long.

Can I use this to edge my beards? I use the fusion blades back of the blade to edge the lines. This is the most important part of my grooming.
If yes I’m buying this and then use the blade also for shaving after doing the edging.WowBargain on 11/12/2024 - 17:19
A double edge safety razor pretty much can't be beaten for edging beards & creating clean lines.
justanick on 12/12/2024 - 01:17
Wait- what’s a double edge safety razor? I got the Gillette King which has one blade. They are so darn cumbersome to use setting up and use shaving gel. The fusion blade I use the single blade at the back which is super easy but I always have to spend more just for the heck of edging and creating lines. I don’t need the 5 blades cartridge but I don’t see an option.
I wonder how every guy who needs to clean their beard line do when they are in a rush.
oaks101 on 11/12/2024 - 17:28
Have this. Honestly grabs a lot which I absolutely hate. My old $40 Phillips cheapo never did this!

I use an urban mess multi-purpose trimmer to first trim my beard and then a traditional Mach 3 razor to get a clean shave. I seem to be getting alot more out of the traditional razor blade this way too. I don't get any irritation this way either. I suppose I am not stabbing myself with my own beard hair when I am using the razor as the hair has been trimmed first. Anyone used the Urban mess trimmer that now use a a one blade that could provide a comparison/feeback?
the frost on 11/12/2024 - 18:21
I just got it and I love it so far, but will have to see long term. I got it because I heard it was good for lazy guys like me who shave less frequently, and it definitely is an improvement over the expensive Braun I used to have.
There are lots of different versions with different accessories so check them out if that's important to you.
The annoying thing is it doesn't come with a manual, just a QR code, to an app which doesn't tell you which blade is which or how to connect them, it instead shows models with explanations on how to sculpt different shape beards.

great product! I reckon I've had the same blade for at least 6 months but for the ease of use and minimal irritation worth it 100%
